Pouco antes da sua saída da Prisão "Voghera", no norte da região da Lombardia, o Juíz ordenou a Giovanni Salvatore Riin  que regressa se á sua cidade natal de Corleone para viver com sua mãe, Ninetta Bagarella.

Á quem diga que a sua presença cá fora poderá ser considerada muito perigosa. Giovanni Riin, 34 anos de idade, tinha esperança em ficar no norte da cidade italiana de Pádua sob a vigilância da polícia e trabalhar para a caridade, assim como o tribunal lhe tinha ordenado. No entanto, os Juízes mudaram as suas decisões, e obrigaram a voltar á sua terra natal, para casa da sua mãe.

Seu pai, "Toto Riina" considerado um dos homens mais perigosos do mundo e também conhecido como "chefe dos Chefes" antes de ser preso. Foi detido na capital da Sicília, Palermo, em Janeiro de 1993, depois de quase 25 anos fugido.

Deram lhe o apelido de "Monstro" devido à sua natureza violenta, Toto Riina esta a servir múltiplas perpétuas por homicídios, incluindo a morte de dois procuradores anti-máfia em palermo a 1993, Giovanni Falcone e Paolo Borsellino. (Ver Foto acima)

Acredita-se que ele tenha pessoalmente morto cerca de 40 pessoas e de ter ordenado a morte de várias centenas.

Ele tem problemas de coração e está a procurar maneira de ser libertado por motivos de doença. Após a detenção dos chefes, Bernardo Provenzano em 2006 e Salvatore Lo Piccolo em 2007, o actual Chefe da máfia Sciliana neste momento, acredita se que seja Matteo Messina Denaro, que tem estado desaparecido desde 1993.
